THE PERSON BEHIND THE CAMERA
Hello! I'm Alaina Furasek!
I am a daughter, sister, friend, and most importantly...daughter of God. I grew up on a farm in rural Nebraska. As the oldest of five kids, there was never a dull moment growing up. I went to the University of Nebraska - Lincoln and earned a degree in animal science with a minor in ag communications.
When I'm not working my job or shooting for clients, I love spending time with friends and family, going for a run, finding ways to share my Catholic faith with others, and watching a good rom com with cookie dough ice cream.
WHY I LOVE WHAT I DO
I have loved photography ever since I was in 5th grade. In middle school, I bought my first Canon camera with babysitting money. I took pictures of anything and everything. I loved experimenting with different subjects and entering my photos in at the county fair. Over time, I gained experience taking photos for family and friends.
I continued to fall in love with the art of photography and how it captures and freezes a moment in time. I decided to turn my passion into a business for an entrepreneurship class in college and have continued since. Being behind the camera is life-giving for me. It gives me joy and confidence, which I hope rubs off on my clients.
Behind From the Ashes
From the Ashes Photography is based on Isaiah 61:3, "He makes beauty out of ashes." There is something so special about how a photograph can capture such a beautiful moment; it turns the ashes into new life.
We are dust and to dust we shall return. We are made of millions of ashes, and photography captures that in the millions of pixels found in a single photo. The art of photography takes a moment, one that will never happen again, and cherishes it forever. Every photo reflects the Lord's goodness.
Being behind the camera for life's important moments, from graduating high school to growing your family, illustrates the Lord's beauty and power in a radical way.
When it comes to the Sacraments of the Catholic Church, I cannot think of a better embodiment of Isaiah 61:3. These milestones emulate what it means to be born again, to rise from the ashes into new life. I've had the pleasure of photographing children as they receive the sacraments over the years, and I look forward to more opportunities to be a part of these special moments.
